The Rundown: Hellboy and Anastasia travel to Iceland to investigate a powerful dead witch.

Hellboy has decided to continue his extended sabbatical and has been staying in England with Anastasia. Unfortunately, she has been dealing with some issues at work and Hellboy decides to give her a small gift.

The two are going to travel to Iceland to revisit one of the first sites Anastasia worked on and speak to the entombed witch at the center of a dormant volcano. After arriving, the couple and their guide enter the caves and after using magic to reawaken the witch, they learn some dangerous information right before the power of the witch spreads and begins to create creatures that might not allow them to leave.

The Story: A fun, light and entertaining story that has some great character moments and drama that tease not only great adventure but also interpersonal conflict for the couple. I love diving back into Hellboy’s history and this is a great example of why the world of this character is so interesting and engaging. I love the progression of the story and action a lot and cannot wait to see what happens next.

The Art: Nieto delivers fantastic art throughout the issue. I love the visual style and the character designs a lot.
